Fund Public Education
Kids deserve fully funded public schools. Public dollars belong in public schools. That means investing in teachers, securing safe campuses, and ensuring every child in HD 129 — and across the state — has access to a quality education. Our future depends on it.
Lower Home Insurance Rates
Brighter futures start with fair coverage. Families in HD 129 face real risks from hurricanes and floods—but that doesn’t mean we should be punished with the highest home insurance rates in Texas. It’s significantly cheaper to prepare for storms than to rebuild afterward. Resilient Texans deserve real relief, and smart investments in prevention and mitigation pay for themselves.
Fortify Energy Infrastructure
Keeping the lights on is essential. HD 129’s power grid is too fragile, and extreme weather pushes ERCOT to the brink multiple times a year. Texas can’t afford to fall back on outdated thinking. We need common-sense upgrades to oil and gas infrastructure and to accept new energy sources that make our grid more reliable. Solar and wind aren’t political; they’re practical. A variety of energy sources strengthens the grid, lowers costs, and gives Texans more choices.
Prepare for Natural Disasters
Hurricanes are a fact of life. When storms hit, HD 129 residents should know their state is ready, not scrambling. With cuts to FEMA and NOAA, state leaders need to step up to fill the gap preparing for and responding to disasters. Preparedness comes from leaders who show up before, during, and after the storm. Disaster preparedness is a moral and fiscal responsibility.
Protect Communities
Law enforcement, fire, and medical personnel keep families safe. These essential, frontline workers deserve proper resources, effective training, and the ability to focus on their core responsibilities. HD 129 deserves timely and appropriate responses to emergencies - not political posturing that puts neighborhoods at risk. Keep the focus on real threats to make everyone safer.
Strengthen Public Health
We are healthiest together. Unaffordable healthcare costs, misinformation, and attacks on scientific institutions make us more vulnerable and endanger the lives of our neighbors in HD 129. Access to healthcare isn't a handout; it's a smart investment.
Be Accountable
Public servants should face the public. Open conversations directly with HD 129 residents are the key to building trust and a democracy that works for us all. Everybody deserves a voice. We all want a safer, stronger, and more prosperous Texas. And our leaders should be held accountable.
