As a DSS Special Agent, I conducted complex criminal investigations all over the world and protected three U.S. Secretaries of State. My duties took me from serving in Iraq to managing embassy security programs, protecting U.S. athletes and coaches at the Athens Olympics, and safeguarding world leaders like the Dalai Lama and various foreign ministers. These high-stakes diplomatic environments required me to utilize my negotiation and tactical command skills. I learned that even in highly antagonistic situations, we can find common ground and work together to find diplomatic solutions to complex problems.
Later, I returned home to Texas to serve as a Senior Special Agent in Homeland Security Investigations, spending over a decade with the Joint Terrorism Task Force in Houston. In this role, I led investigations into some of our region's most significant security threats. I always treated those I arrested with basic decency and honesty. Beyond investigations, I served as a Team Leader on our Rapid Response Teams, helping people during devastating disasters like Hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria.
MEET ALBERT
I don’t like bullies. Growing up in East Texas to a third-generation Texan father and an immigrant mother gave me a unique perspective on the world and inspired me to stand up to bullies and pursue public service. Thanks to an incredible public school teacher, I found my path in Washington D.C.
I attended The George Washington University for my undergraduate degree and went on to earn a Master’s in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University, which shaped me as a negotiator and facilitator. I was working for the Joint Chiefs of Staff in the war games division at the Pentagon on September 11, 2001. After the attack, I spent hours working alongside rescue teams. A year later – to the day – I accepted a job as a Special Agent with the U.S. State Department’s Diplomatic Security Service and rededicated myself to public service.
Now, I’m bringing this lifetime of crisis management, tactical problem-solving, and negotiation to the Texas House of Representatives because I still don’t like bullies. I am prepared to serve my fellow Texans and find common-sense solutions to the challenges we face today. My 22-year career in federal law enforcement makes me uniquely suited to address public safety by properly funding our police, expanding mental health crisis training, and building accountability. I will fight to fully fund our public schools so that every child has the same opportunities so many of us have had, and I am committed to securing our energy grid so it is reliable when most needed. Instead of waiting decades for perfect solutions, we can “do something” now to reduce flood risk, hold polluters accountable, and lower skyrocketing insurance rates. I don't owe anything to special interests in Austin. I'm ready to be the point man going through the door to help people communicate and deliver real results to the people of Texas.
